Contractors

Our signatory contractors are our partners! Our members do not work if they do not get the jobs. It is difficult for our contractors to compete in an environment of low market share. Conditions for our contractors to compete are compromised when there is not a level playing field for them to bid jobs. If non union contractors have employees that are classified as independent contractors that relates to a 25% - 35% price advantage to the non union contractor.

It is our role as a Union with our contractor’s commitment to training that we supply the best and most qualified skilled workers. The difference between our members making a loss or profit to our contractors so they can get the next job depends on our productivity level and qualifications.

Our contractors need our Union to organize non union contractors to maintain that level playing field. This is why they allow our members to assist in our organizing efforts. The contractors play an enormous role in many areas regarding industry solutions, training, benefit funds for our members and political events.

Without our contractors as partners both sides lose!
